Backshop Tiefkühl GmbH launches its own plant-based burger mix box
Backshop Tiefkühl GmbH has introduced the burger mix box called "BAM BOX" as a new product designed to sustainably enhance the out-of-home market. This exclusive box consists of eight high-quality premium burger buns with linseed and eight plant-based patties made from New Meat, an animal-free product from the well-known food tech company Redefine Meat.
The burger mix box was developed to enable companies in the out-of-home market to plan the use of goods precisely and at the same time combat food waste. Each box contains a precisely matched number of buns and patties so that only what is actually needed can be ordered and used. Backshop has entered into a supply agreement with Redefine Meat, an innovative producer of plant-based meat alternatives founded in 2018, to supply the patties. The patties are composed of pea and soya proteins and have been developed through intensive research and innovative production methods to achieve a comparable similarity in important sensory aspects to animal products of the same type.
"With the introduction of our burger mix box, we are responding to the changing needs of consumers, who are increasingly focussing on sustainability and plant-based alternatives. The choice of Redefine Meat as a partner was a natural one for us, as their innovative strength and the quality of their patties are convincing," explains Christian Sommer, Head of Purchasing and Sales at Backshop GmbH.
The burger buns with linseed, on the other hand, are a long-established product in the Backshop Tiefkühl GmbH portfolio and are synonymous with quality and taste. The small wheat buns are made from pea protein, soya and topped with yellow linseed. They provide an excellent basis for a special burger experience and are therefore the perfect addition to a high-quality mix box. For the company, it's not just about launching a new product; it's also about signalling a willingness to respond to changing consumer needs while paving the way for a more sustainable future in the food industry.
The collaboration with Redefine Meat helps both companies to use the synergy to further drive sustainability in the food market. Ulrich Strünck, Commercial Director DACH at Redefine Meat, comments: "For us, working with Backshop is a significant step forward in our mission to make sustainable and tasty alternatives to animal products available to a wider audience. Backshop's distribution and logistics expertise is invaluable to us as we continue to develop the market for plant-based meat alternatives".
The Burger Mix Box is available now through Backshop's usual order channels.
